The safety relay, which is only activated when a coil pulse is present. As a result, the LPG system can only work when the engine is running. If the engine stops, the gas shut-off valves will no longer be activated and close.

This relay ensures that the LPG system is shut off after the engine has stopped. After approximately 1.5 seconds, there will be no more voltage on the LPG shut-off valves.

The Lektron GMS Safety Relay (Relay) - LSS230
Safety switch, model LSS230 intended for a classic LPG system (car with carburetor). This safety relay ensures that the gas shut-off valves are automatically closed when the engine is turned off. (Safety feature)

The Lektron GMS LSS23 Safety Relay is a 5-pin relay, also known as an Induction Relay or Safety Relay. It serves as a safety measure, which is only active when there is a pulse signal (from the coil) present. The gas system only operates when the engine is running, and if the engine is turned off, the gas shut-off valves will also close.

Important: Use the pulse signal from the low voltage side of the coil (-1), which is the signal that comes from the contacts or the electronic control of the coil and also called the Primary coil control. Do NOT use the high voltage cables (spark plug cables) as the pulse signal, as these are sometimes used by wrapping a wire around them and connecting it to the relay. This can cause a lot of noise, interference and peak voltages, causing the relay to behave abnormally and become faulty more quickly.
